Boarding your horse at Jackson Stables is as close as you can come to caring for your horse personally without actually keeping your horse at home.

We strive to provide a quality home for all the horses in our care, as we would our own, as you would your own. All of us here that work the stables daily also board our horses here. Our caring process here is a dynamic one, we constantly ask what we can do to improve our facility and operation to insure the health and happiness of our tenants. And to improve our efficiency and minimize the cost of doing business so that we can keep our price to you the lowest possible while maintaining our high standards. We do not think you can find a lower price for the quality of service we demand and the amenities and facilities we offer.

We have provided a fee schedule page ( see navigation tab ) where you can look at the various detailed services we offer as well as the prices to make it easy for you to decide on the services you need and make comparisons with other service providers. If we are made aware of a lower advertised price for a comparable service from another service provider we will meet or beat that price if at all possible.

Most of our boarders select stall boarding for their horses. That is our specialty and offers the best care available. We make pasture boarding available on a limited basis. We maintain a minimum 1 acre per horse ratio and each stall owns an acre. The acreage available over and above the number of filled stalls are made available for pasture boarding. These numbers are only to help us establish a maximum number of horses we will board, Since free forage hay is provided in the pastures in the form of round bales there really is no limitation on the horses based on acreage avilable. But we keep this limit to avoid having too many horses that may compromise our horse's quality of life. Either boarding alternative consists of 2 feedings per day, morning and evening, which includes our seasonal grain feed and hay at each feeding. The stall board fee is $295 per month and the pasture board fee is $195 per month.  Stall turnout is according to owner instructions.

The stables will provide reasonable additional labor to accomplish owner instructions. The owner should provide any supplements, additional feed, or other material and supplies to the stables to fulfill any special instructions. In addition to the feedings, fresh water is always provided whether in stall or turnout. During the growing season the pasture is the primary source of nutrition but we still provide the standard two feedings per day. We may sometimes choose to reduce grain, hay, or pasture turnout if the horses are getting too much caloric intake. And conversely, particularly given the recent drought, we may choose to supplement the pasture through increased hay and grain rations. Hay is always made available in pasture regardless of the time of year or condition of pasture to offer continuous forage replacement.
We have found the horses will choose to alternate between grass and hay throughout the day or night
even when the pasture is at the height of the growing season, and seem healthier for it. So, we keep hay available continuously year round

Stall boarding includes quality bedding and the stalls are cleaned daily, after each feeding or turnout. Bedding replacement is done daily as needed. The stalls are completely stripped periodically and bedding is completely replaced at these times. The stall stripping schedule is "as needed" for each horse. Some are cleaner than others and some can require stall stripping every few days. There is also a seasonal aspect to stall stripping as the stall time varies with the seasons and owner instructions.

In addition to the routine care of your horse we provide plenty of facilities for you to work and play with your horse. We have a 70 ft diameter sand footing round pen for working your horse. There is a large outdoor arena with barrels and jumps for more specialized work and play. The rear of the property consists of about 22 acres of forest trails for pleasure riding and less challenging rides for children and inexperienced riders. One of our most significant amenities is the access rights we have to the thousands of acres of forest trails among the two mountain ridges just across the road at the front of our property. These are more challenging trails for experienced horses and riders. Some of our boarders have ridden these trails for 6 or 7 hours before having to turn back. (NOTE: Due to recent changes in ownership of the mountains land parcels where our trails are located we have had some difficulty in determining who, and establishing contact with, the new land owners. Due to this we have stopped the mountain trail riding sanctioned by our stables until we can obtain clear and legal permission to ride these properties. We are also in negotiations with the known land owners and we feel we are close to regaining permissions we have always enjoyed to these beautiful trails. We are being assured we will be given access rights again once the leagal issues surrounding our trail access have been resolved, but for now we are not sanctioning mountain trail rides from our stables. Please be patient and bare with us as we reestablish this wonderful amenity).

There are many additional services we provide such as washing, grooming, supervised exercise and working of your horse. and even specialized prep work for shows and events. We also offer horse training and rider lessons on site. Please see the fee schedule and training pages for more info.

Medical and Farrier services can be provided to you by the providers the stables uses or you may use any provider you like. We will contact you if we feel your horse needs these services for further instructions.
